  1. Birth Certificate:

Requirements:

  1. 02 recent colour photographs
  2. Passport (original + copy)
  3. Stay permit (carte de séjour or carte de résident) - (original + copy)
  4. Fee: € 24.00 by card
  1. Attestation/Power of Attorney (PoA):

For execution of a Power of Attorney/Affidavit(s) relating to civil/property/financial matters, applicants/executants are required to visit the Consulate in person and sign the PoA/Affidavit(s) before the Consular Officer. Documents required:

  1. Application form (to be filled at the Consulate)
  2. Applicant’s original Passport and a copy of the same
  3. Copy of resident card
  4. Original and a copy of the Power of Attorney/Affidavit
  5. Recent colour photograph (to be affixed on the last page of the PoA near signature)
  6. Original and one copy of two witness’s valid Passports with copy of their address proof.
  7. Fees: € 21.00 by card
  1. Certificate of Coutume:
  1. Application form (to be filled at the Consulate)
  2. Applicant’s original Passport and a copy of the same
  3. Copy of Resident Card/Copy of visa
  4. Copy of Identity card of the future bride/groom
  5. Fees: € 21.00 by card
  1. Death Registration Certificate:

The following documents are required for Registration of Death of Indian nationals:

  1. Application form (to be filled at the Consulate)
  2. Duly Filled in Application for death registration (click here) 
  3. Original Passports for deceased and applicant/informant
  4. Photocopy of deceased’s Passport and self-attested photocopy of applicant/informant’s Passport
  5. Original and Apostilled Death Certificate from the local authorities and Hospital/Doctor with spare photocopy. English translation of the documents from sworn translator.

  1. Transportation of Mortal Remains:

To streamline and expedite Public Health Clearance for transporting human mortal remains to India, the Government of India has created eCARe portal, integrating all stakeholders for smooth document clearance, automated alerts, and live status tracking.

The following documents are necessary for Public Health Clearance of Human remains:-

  1. Death Certificate issued by the health department/hospital/doctor clearly mentioning the cause of death
  2. Death Certificate issued by the Marie
  3. Embalming certificate
  4. ‘Non-Contagious’ certificate
  5. ‘Non-Epidemic’ certificate
  6. Certificate for ‘Closing of Coffin’
  7. NOC (to be issued by the Consulate)
  8. Original Indian Passport or OCI Card of the deceased
  9. Consent letter from next of kin of the deceased, for transportation of mortal remains, duly attested by a notary.
  10. Flight details – Copy of ticket
  11. Death certificate (to be issued by the Consulate for Indian nationals, as mentioned above in Para 4)
  1. Transportation of Ashes to India:
  1. Death Certificate issued by the health department/hospital/doctor clearly mentioning the cause of death
  2. Death Certificate issued by the Marie
  3. Cremation Certificate
  4. ‘Non-Epidemic’ certificate
  5. Consent letter from next of kin of the deceased, for transportation of mortal remains, duly attested by a notary.
  6. Original Indian passport/OCI card of the deceased
  7. Flight details – Copy of ticket

Please note:

  1. All the above mentioned documents except ‘v’ to ‘vii’ have to be apostilled by the “Cour d’Appel” of the department concerned and then translated to English by an authorised translator before submitting to the Consulate.
  2. Please note that these documents have to be submitted in two sets, one for the Consulate and one for the applicant.
  3. Fees:
  • Euros 21.00 to be paid by card. Cancellation of Indian passport of an Indian who dies abroad is gratis.
  • Euro 12.00 to be paid by card for attestation of any death/Ashes related document
  1. Apostille:

Apostille services are currently not available at the Consulate General of India in Saint Denis. Applicants are required to get their documents from the Ministry of External Affairs in India. Click here for more information.
